Loris is located thirty-five miles northwest of Myrtle Beach. Best known for its friendly, small town atmosphere, it is a quiet community away from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach. Loris boasts a wonderful healthcare system including the Loris Community Hospital.

Each year the community hosts the Loris Bog-Off, a festival and cooking competition featuring chicken bog. (Chicken bog is a special regional dish made with chicken, sausage, rice and various seasonings.)
